Modeling Chocolate Starfish

This tutorial demonstrates how to sculpt 3D starfish out of modeling chocolate to decorate a beach themed cake. This is page 3 of 4 of the Modeling Chocolate Seashells Tutorial.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Modeling Chocolate Starfish

1. To form the starfish, first roll out the modeling chocolate to a ½” thickness. Then cut stars using a star shaped cookie cutter.

2. Pinch each point on the star between two fingers to narrow it into a rounded tentacle. Smooth out each tentacle by rubbing your fingers over it.

3. With melted piping chocolate in a parchment paper cone, pipe five small dots in a pentagon shape in the middle of each starfish. Each point on the pentagon should point to the center of each tentacle.

4. Continue piping evenly spaced dots down the center of each tentacle, all the way down to the point.

5. Pipe two more rows on each tentacle, one to the right and one to the left of the dotted center line.

6. Pipe one big round dot in the center of the starfish.
